We are planning our 4th weekend Aphasia Camp for Sept. 14-16, 2012. It is a social-recreational weekend camp with the over-arching aim of helping people to learn to live more successfully with aphasia. It will be held at Tim Horton Onondaga Farm camp near Brantford. We will accommodate 100 people for the weekend, from across the province. This includes 60 people affected by aphasia, 9 SLP students on supervised placement from UWO, and volunteers from all walks of life. For a look at what we do at camp, view our 2010 slideshow at this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CNnq2ECiM8
I am writing for 2 reasons:
I would like to ask you to support Aphasia Camp by making a donation of cash or a door prize. Cash donations will help to reduce user fees and make camp more accessible. Our aim is to charge $150 per camper for the weekend.
A tax receipt will be issued for all cash donations. Cheques may be made payable to "Adult Recreation Therapy Centre" and marked for "Aphasia Camp". Door prizes in the past have included such useful items as gift cards for books, food, home health; Tshirts, sunglasses, toiletries gift basket. All donors will be acknowledged on a sponsor board and mentioned in presentations during camp weekend.
If you have clients with aphasia who might be interested in attending Aphasia Camp, or staff or students who may be interested in volunteering, please Email our Camp Planner, Gemma Woticky, at
and ask that your name be placed on the mailing list to receive flyers and application forms.
If you have questions or require more information please contact me. Thanks for your support!
